Learning and Teaching Languages

What if you could take a postgraduate qualification in Learning and Teaching Languages at a world-class university in New Zealand without ever leaving home? The University of Canterbury Learning and Teaching Languages suite of programmes lets you do just that in our Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MTESOL) or Master of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (MCALL) qualifications.

You study online, viewing video lectures, reading course material and interacting with your lecturers and other students in our forums every week. Each course has a weekly live interactive webinar that you can join in real time or you can view the recorded webinar afterwards. Each course is assessed through your active participation every week and two hand-in assignments designed to help you apply your learning to your experience and context, all through our Moodle-based learning platform.

Our masters programmes take 12 months to complete for full time students and up to 24 months for part-timers. Take a look through these pages to find out more about what studying Learning and Teaching Languages online might mean for you.
